Tehnix d.o.o., one of the world’s leading eco-industry companies that developed and produced over 300 devices for environmental protection, was facing a challenge with cost and time efficiency in running research and development projects for new products in industrial recycling segment. Requirement was to formalize and regulate partnerships with scientific research organization, design a project that will deliver a high quality and marketable product with export potential), have positive impact on company’s finance load, and align product development timeline with the rapid market placement plan. Speculum played an integral and active role in client’s team in research and development project planning, concept development, financial and operational planning and partnership allignement. Speculum was also responsible for managing required documentation and administration for the tender process, in order to ensure grants. The client received over 1,3 million € in grants and ran a 36 months of industrial research and experimental developmentApplied research resulted in a new product, intellectual property protection, international market placement plan and new job openings. A long term cooperation framework has been established with the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology in Zagreb as a scientific research organization on the project, with the potential for launching new research projects and mutual transfer of knowledge and experience.

Renewable energy sources and positive impact on the environment are among our strategic goals. In order to make our own contribution, we searched for a solution to produce and provide electricity supply for internal use. Our experts joined their technical knowledge and designed, delivered and made operational our own solar power plant with a capacity of 10 kW. Together with a complete financial model, project was applied and approved for ESI funds co-funding. The power plant has so far produced 78.77 MWh of electricity which is equivalent to reduction of CO2 emissions by 59 tons or planting 1,349 trees.

Brenum d.o.o. was searching for an investment to support a unique Aparthotel construction in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. As the first 4-star hotel in the county, Aparthotel Brenum’s would be an innovative contributor to the county development. The Aparthotel would offer exclusive content and high-quality service that would increase tourist value chain by creating new quality offer and diversity with increasing competitive advantage for the entire destination area. Aparthotel Brenum’s design base is the “green business” paradigm as the fundamental criterion of environmental awareness and the use of energy efficient materials and technological solutions. Together with the use of renewable energy sources, electric car chargers and creating offers, the destination would have emphasis on “green & healthy” lifestyle. After a detailed analysis of tourist trends and strategic goals for destination development, a joined project team designed a concept, defined activity scope and resources and delivered a financial structure required for project realization. With over 1,2 million € in grants, Aparthotel Brenum’s 15 accommodation units of superior design were built, equipped, and categorized with 4 stars. With new jobs openings, additional facilities and high-quality service, destination has a full year tourist season. The innovative e-business solutions in place were the basis for achieving the quality of modern tourism – the creation of “customized” offers tailored to each individual guest.
